Waffle House Heaven

Waffles in the south just taste better. I don't know why, but I do have my theories...
It could be because Waffle House is a haven for waffle lovers. It could be the luve that goes into those waffles. It could be the flour? I dunno... but Waffles are divine. Circles of warm, syrupy goodness. Filling my soul.

Yum!

Key West Theories and Realities

You know those pictures that show you sugar white beaches? The ones that scream COME TO THE KEYS!!! Yeah. There really aren't beaches in the Keys. The reef is several miles off shore, that is where the waves break. So, the joke was on us as we drove miles and miles trying to find a beach that wasn't hard coral rock. We ended up in Key West at a man made cove. They are illegal to dig out now, so this one has been there awhile. The Keys are for boating, snorkeling and fishing. Not for beach lying or swimming. *facepalm*

Sam, Riley and Ellie enjoyed snorkeling. Katie and I searched for shells. We watched while sailboats raced into the sunset. It was beautiful. Even if it wasn't what we thought it would be. Thank goodness for that little cove!!! Sam saw legions of yellow fish swimming together. I could hear Riley crying, COOL!, through his snorkel!!! Katie has been searching for shark teeth, which are black here...so we will keep looking. For me, it is enough that we have been blessed to be here together as a family. It means more to me than anything else.

To be able to hug my Dad. To share the beach with my family. To body surf. To place one foot in the gulf and the other in the Atlantic ocean. To eat sand. Not intentionally...of course! To run, and laugh. And live and love. This is life at it's best!

Having a blast...

We made it to Disney world and the Keys. We are having a lot of fun. Getting freckles and tan lines! Key Lime pie under the stars is the yummiest!!! And eating it in the Keys makes it even better. And of course I was with Sam. *sigh* We all have sand in our pants and sunshine on our faces. I promise to post pictures soon. We lost Katie's camera somewhere along the way, and with it my super nice camera card. Sooo, I have been using my good camera and have some nice shots to share. Some from the southernmost park in the United states. Right where the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean touch. Cool, huh? At sunset. Watching it slip beneath an endless sea. Katie was disappointed there was no green flash. We can't have it all can we...

Life is an adventure. And each day is new. Some of my favorite things are reading all the signs as we travel. A few have been quite heart felt and uplifting. One read... Commit to change. I laughed out loud at first. Change what? My pants? My life? Should I commit myself??? Then I really thought about it. Making a commitment is like a pact with a promise. Commitment has been a real problem for me lately. The desire is there...it just keeps slipping out of my grasp. No, no, no. Not with Sam. We are great. I am talking about eating habits. Something I struggle with on a daily basis. Now imagine a month long vacation...um. Yeah. Yikes. I haven't done bad, just not as well as I had hoped.

I miss all of you. And can't wait to get back to reality...just a couple more weeks.

Home again, gone again...jiggety jig!

The kids and I are in Florida. Hanging out at my friends' house. Thanks Andie!!! It is hot, sunny and awesome. Andie has a pool, and that seems to be the hot spot thus far.

Fourth of July weekend was spent with my Dad. We went down to Naples and stayed on the beach and watched fireworks, then the party that ensued. W.O.W. I quickly scurried kids back to the hotel room and ordered a pizza. From our balcony we could see fireworks going off all along the coastline. It was simply amazing. It is always wonderful to see how much we love our country. And, I was reaquainted with the fact that a LOT of people drink. And not responsibly either... I have been in Utah so long, I almost take for granted that we don't deal with what most of the world lives with. Shame on me. (tucks tail) It will be some time before I take that for granted again...

My Dad is so awesome! He is letting us drive his jeep around while we are here so we don't have to pay car rental... THANKS DAD!!! It has been too long since we have seen him. I really do miss him. Hopefully this week I will catch up to Casey. My brother, and his sweet wife Dorothy.

Today we spent the day at Siesta Key beach. Soaked up some sun, built sandcastles and ran in the waves. Came back to Andie's and had a BBQ. It doesn't get better than that!!! Well, it could if Sam was here...LOL!

Miss you all.
See you in August.
Promise to keep you updated!
