Feeing much much much better!

Well, after a fabulous brush with pneumonia, I am feeling much better. Things here are starting to get back to normal. You know what happens when Mom is sick... the house has to run itself basically, which can be very interesting.

Sam took the kids to Fish Lake on Saturday. They were gone all day and had a blast! They went fishing, sledding, exploring and all kinds of fun stuff!!! I had to teach a class at BYU. So I didn't get to go.

We had a typical week, thank goodness, of school, work, reading and chores. The kids did earn dog tags for reading and math at school. To celebrate we took them out for pizza. We sure laughed when we walked in and Sam's Mom was standing in the pizza parlor. It ended up being a family affair, we were loud, we laughed and had a great time!

I am glad to be feeling better. I am even more glad to get back into a routine. It seems that we often take the mundane for granted. I will take the every day stuff in stride. It is much better than being sick!

All in all

All in all it was a quiet weekend. Saturday proved to be a bit hectic...but hey that is Saturday right? We are trying to get back into some kind of groove around here. Yoga at BYU started on Saturday, and again I am teaching. I am grateful for the chance to share yoga with so many who are in different places in life. It is really cool how it embraces each stage of life. For me it is a bit of a roller coaster...sometimes I am really dedicated and at other times just along for the ride. Wherever is leads is a journey, and a journey that I am willing to embark on. Hope all of you had a great weekend! Happy Monday to ya!

And so it goes

I sit and gaze toward the Western sun, though it is bitter cold...longing for the heat to reach my bones. Outside it is still and silent. The orchards are all sleeping under a veil of snow and cloud. Molly is curled up in the sunshine on the porch taking advantage of what radiant heat can be found! She is so sweet, like a little ball of chocolate...with dreams. A haze is rising from the valley floor reaching upward with tendrils of gray...I hope it storms soon to chase the inversion away. It is beautiful how the sky and the earth seem to merge into one...almost like they melt together. I love that!

The three creatures are all home and snug. Full of life, and laughter they are quick to fill me in on what is important to them. I smile and make more cocoa wanting to share in their sweet little dreams. My feeling heart wants to wrap them up and hold them tight. Yet, my searching heart longs to set them free on shaking wings...how does one do that? Give their children roots and wings... Roots to hold and wings to fly...by and by. And so it goes...

Words, music and life musings

Words and music have always been part of me. I have a profound love of poetry and self expression. Art, words, music...fill my soul with joy. It is so amazing to me the feelings that can be expressed when words are placed just so...for good or for ill. I am learning that hurt manifests itself only when we allow it to. One can only be offended when he/she chooses to be. I feel such a sense of peace...in a time of war. Within my spirit dwells a love of God and good things. I know that hard things, even sad things will and must happen. It is my hope to grow and learn from these things...

Well, back to reality. E. is feeling much better, but now I am sick. Nothing quite compares to fever, chills, shakes and body aches! For me of course it always moves into my chest...ouch. ( Like there isn't already enough there! LOL ) Like my heart, my bust , shall I continue? All my thanks to my dear Sam...who has fed the kids, and babied me for the last couple of days. It certainly has been an adventure lately! Last night at around 4am we ran out of propane...eek. Sam had to hook up our spare...thank goodness for the spare... It took him an hour or better. The night life must be the thing for him, because night before last he had to go to his Mom's and fix their broken water line. With temps hitting -20, it is no wonder that we are all dealing with winter in our own way.

Personally I like winter. Even the bitter cold of winter. There is something about everything dormant that intrigues me. Hibernation envy perhaps? Although it makes me sad to see the trees naked dancing in the wind...I know that it is only a cycle of life. One eternal round the seasons will make. And again I will try to find my voice. It has been so long since I have sat down to write. I get lost in Mommiedom... and forget that within the mother is a person. Well, here I am. I hope to make the journey a little sweeter.

Sweet Little E.

Well, the four day party came to a halt. This is sweet little E. She is really sick. All weekend she has been running a fever that has been hard to maintain. She slept all day Saturday...and I mean ALL DAY. She has stirred a bit today, but not much. Usually she is a bundle of non-stop motion. E. is always smiling, always running and almost always happy. So, say a little prayer for her...

The weather here has turned bitter cold. It was 10 below here last night. Down in town ( in the valley ) it was 20 below. We sure like it when the sun comes up...can you say radiant heat. Mmmm. Nothing like the sun to warm ya body and soul. We all parked our little fannies right in front of the window as soon as the sun came up!
All is good. The snow is melting between storms which is really good, that is the difference between us and Denver. Sam keeps us warm, R. packs in the coal for the stove, K. is being a good girl helping around the house and E. is trying to get well. And me, well I am trying to get by.

The way it really is...

We have had our fun today! K. earned a girls day out. She invited her best friend out for lunch and a movie. Needless to say it was still snowing this morning. I make it out of the drive way fine...have a wonderful day...then I have to try to get back up our driveway. That was the adventure today!!! Nothing like trying to high-center your car to freak out your kids. LOL!!! Well, we walked up the driveway...and we are all just fine. Walking in the snow is like nothing else. It squeaks underfoot, is soft and fluffy and irresistible. It is all I can do to not bend down and scoop it up and eat it!!! Ah we really take luxuries of life for granted ALOT!!! We are making snow ice cream...so lets toast! To how it really is!

What do you do when it snows? Build a snowman of course!!! It was nearly 50 degrees yesterday. Today the wind switched, it got COLD, and the snow blew in. It is still snowing as I write this. I love the snow. I love winter. People here think I am weird, maybe they are right.

This picture is about 2 years old. It is one of my favorites. The kids are really excited about the snow as they are home for a 4 day weekend. I think it is time for me to play out there with them. We are really lucky to be right by a lake that freezes in the winter. We get to ice skate, play hockey, pull each other around on tubes behind the four wheeler and just plain have fun!

West Mountain

It is a pretty quiet day around here. Ellie is playing while I square things away. This is a picture of West Mountain. It is directly behind our house. Although it looks smooth and round, it is very steep. Sam spends time up there with the horse and mule. He also likes to hike around and explore up there. Have a beautiful day!!!

On the way to Sundance

This is a beautiful waterfall that I pass on my way to go skiing. It is called bridal veil falls. It is simply breathtaking! I did everything I could to try and rotate the picture to no avail...as you can see. Just turn your monitor on it's side! LOL.

This is up Provo Canyon on the way to Sundance. I am lucky enough to see this at least once a week. It never ceases to amaze me how beautiful the world can be.

Out in the Boonies

Out in the boonies it sure is beautiful! This is a sunset off my front porch. Our home faces West toward Utah Lake and the Tintic Mountain Range. We get to see the most spectacular sunsets!!! Along each side of the house are apple orchards, peaches and cherry trees. We live on 5 acres of old farm land. We have horses, chickens, and our dog...Molly. Our little town is big in space and small in numbers...and the perfect place to raise a family! The people here are down to earth and honest. Many people have been born and raised here. Or, like us an extension of family that is already here. We are blessed to have Sam's parents just 5 miles across town from us.

I will keep posting pictures for you to enjoy, so stop by, grab a hot cocoa and relax!

Beautiful Day!!!!

It is another beautiful day here in UT. I was beckoned to the slopes by the sunshine, and lack of wind. It was perfect!!! I ski at Sundance it is only about 30 minutes from my door...and I love it. I ski while Ellie is in kindergarten class. ( from around 9-12 ) on Mondays. Sam and I started skiing last January. Neither one of us had ever been. Well now I know why. Okay, first it is addictive. Second ,it is fast. Last but not least it is SO FUN!!! We ski together on Wed mornings each week. It gives us a chance to actually talk to each other. A rare and wonderful thing that we felt need a bit more nourishment! We also get to have fun at the same time. I will try to post some pictures soon. Anyway.... back to reality. Gotta put away groceries and the rest of the crew will be home soon. Have a wonderful day!!!!
